Although many supervisors don’t identify as researchers, they are precisely the in-the-trenches investigators poised to answer important questions. Single-subject experimental designs enable identification of cause-effect relationships without large Ns, sophisticated statistical analyses, big budgets or significant time. Assessment must insure accessibility, draw on multiple perspectives across relevant environments and provide sufficient sensitivity to capture change. This short course provides options for SLPs working with teens to select functional assessment tools, implement effective service delivery models, address pragmatic language and social media use concerns, and plan for successful transition to post-secondary education and work settings.
